Brown Sugar Glazed Ham Steaks

Ingredients

  • 2–4 smoked ham steaks (about 1–1.5 lb each)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice (or orange juice)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: pineapple slices

Instructions

1. Heat your pan
Use a large skillet (cast iron works great) over medium heat. Add butter and let it melt.

2. Sear the ham steaks
Place ham steaks in the pan and cook 2–3 minutes per side until lightly browned.

3. Make the glaze
Reduce the heat slightly and add brown sugar, mustard, juice, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir around the ham steaks until everything melts together.

4. Glaze and caramelize
Spoon the glaze over the ham as it simmers. Let it cook another 3–5 minutes until thickened and sticky.

5. Add pineapple (optional but recommended)
Lay pineapple slices in the pan during the last few minutes to caramelize in the glaze.

Serve With

  • Roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes
  • Green beans or asparagus
  • Simple side salad

Tips

  • These ham steaks are already smoked/cured, you're just heating and building flavor
  • Don’t overcook or they’ll dry out
  • This same recipe works great on the grill, just baste with glaze at the end
