Locally Raised - Grass Fed - Grain Finished

Beaty Cattle Company is a family-owned ranch located in De Leon, TX. Our beef is grass-fed and grain-finished. We believe in quality, tenderness, and taste.

How it Works

  • We simply sell you the beef.
  • We charge you each month for the feed. The calves are fed a custom grain mix and hay for approximately 120 days.
  • We deliver your beef to the processor. Several appointment dates are set in the spring and fall with Thompson’s Custom Processing in Dublin, TX.
  • You pick up your frozen meat from the processor and pay the processing charges.

When you place an order with us, we weigh the calf and ask that you pay the cost of the animal based on its weight. This cost may be divided over four months if desired. The balance will be due to us before you pick up your beef. Processing charges are paid directly to Thompson’s.

General Information

Total costs (approximate):

  • Quarter $800
  • Half $1,500-1,600
  • Whole $3,000-3,200
  • This cost includes the calf, feed and processing charges.
    • A half of a calf is usually just over $800
    • Monthly feed runs $75-100 per half beef
    • Processing fees are around $400 per half beef
    • Our beef (in the freezer) generally averages just over $8.00 per lb depending on the size of the calf, custom processing, etc...

Good estimates to go by for the weight of meat you will receive is:

  • Quarter beef averages 80-100 lbs of meat
  • Half beef averages 200-250 lbs. of meat
  • Whole beef averages 400-500 lbs. of meat

Normal dry-age time is 14 days. From the appointment date, it typically takes the processor just over two weeks to have your meat ready for pick up.

Meat Cuts

We will provide you a cut sheet a few weeks prior to your processing date. You will select the cuts of beef you want and how you want it packaged (size, number per package, thickness, etc...) You will return the cut sheet to us and we will take it to the processor when we deliver your calf. They will contact you if they have questions or need clarification on your order.

Typical standard cuts are as follows:

  • Steaks (New York Strip, Rib-Eye, Filet, T-Bone, Sirloin)
  • Tenderized Round Steak or Sirloin Tip Cutlets
  • Short Ribs
  • Roasts
  • Brisket
  • Stew/Chili Meat
  • Ground Beef
  • Additional cuts/special instructions may also be noted on the form
